Horowhenua Again.

(Port) It would be impossible to put iu cold type any greater proof of the mental and moral obliquity of a politician than is embodied and disclosed in the memorandum by the Hon. the Minister for Lands in connection with Section 14 of the Horowhenua Block laid upon the table of the House last evening. The summary of what the bon. gentleman calls his “ belief ” in regard to the dealings of Sir Walter Buller with the Horowhenua land is Siren elsewhere in this issue. The ocument in detail we would not dare to publish had we space and inclination. for it is of such a character as would, in our opinion, properly bring this journal within easy reach of the long arm of the law and secure to the publisher proper and condign punishThat the law cannot reach a Minister who, under shelter of his Parliamentary privilege, can thus in safety publish a scandalous document will be surely matter of regret to every fair minded and non-party man in the community who may become acquainted with its contents. We hold no brief for Sir Walter Buller in this affair. If he has done wrong in his dealings in native lands we hope that justice may overtake him, but that he should be assailed without recourse in tho abominable manner disclosed in the Parliamentary paper under notice is a gross abuse of power and privilege, exceeding in brutality any like ease within our knowledge.
