WAIPUEURAU.

(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) A meeting of members of the Waipuku run Swimming Club was held in tbo Tavistock Hotel last night, when there was a large attendance of those interested. The Hon W. C. Smith, M L. 0., occupied the chair. It was decided to hold a Swimming tournament in the Tuki Tuki, near Mt. Herbert, on Wednesday, 3rd February. The following names were ! added to tho committee:—Messrs P Gow, F Bailey, A E Newman, W H J Bennett, PBirrio, A Buchan, E Gilbertson, D H Potts, L de Pelichet, A L Allau, W Harding, F Arlidgo, T Oolquhoun and J Reidy. Mr W. Smith was eleoted hon treasurer. The following members were appointed a sub committee to carry out the programme for the carnival :—Dr Godfray, Messrs J C Simpson, H Brunton, R Sinclair, J J Bailey, W Cook, and W Oondie. It was decided to ask Mr Thos. Richardson to act as judge and Mr C. M. Whittington as starter. It was also decided that uomiaatioDs close with the secretary on Wednesday, 27th January, at 8 pm. The usual vote to the chair terminated the meeting. The sub-com-mittee met at the close of the general meeting, when a programme consisting of twelve events was drawn up and approved of. The ladies will be asked to provide afternoon tea, and altogether, judging by the interest shown in the proposed gather ing, a most enjoyable afternoon is to bo expected. The cricket team to play the Waipawa Band next Wednesday, at Waipukurau, will be picked from the following :—F Sbarpin, R Paterson, F Bailey, Sainabury, Godfray, L Simpson, Ryan, Harding, J C Simpson, Riv C L Tuke, E GilbertsoD, A Jones, A L Allan and Davis. The above players are requested to attend practice every evening.
