Waipawa Town Board

The usual monthly meeting of the Town Board was held yesterday morning. Present—-Messrs W. H. J. Bennett (in tho chair), G. Abrahams, W. Rithbone and A. (J. Scrimgeour.

MISCELLANEOUS. The question of appointing a permanent chairman was held over until the next meeting of the board. Messrs Mogrilge and Harker wGre approved of as sureties for the clerk. The bond waa referred to the board’s solicitor. On the motion of Mr Abrahams, it was resolved to vote the late clerk a bonus of £2 2s for holding extraordinary elections during his torm of office. A letter was read from Mr S. M'Greevy, dated Bth May, resigning his seat on the beard.—The resignation w.-.s accepted, and it was decided to take steps to fill tho vacancy. The deed between the board and Mr 8. M’Greevy for the pnrcbaee of section No. 20, Abbotsford, was read and signed by Messrs Abrahams and Scrimgeour. A letter was read from the Government auiitor requesting to bo famished with a copy of the balance sheet.—The clerk 6tated that it was in the possession of the late clerk and had not been handed to him. The Inte clerk wrote asking for extra remuneration for holding oleotions, mak ing out specifications, &c.—No payment lo bo made until he returned the balancesheet.

A communication was received from the Treasury forwarding £5 10s Id, half cost of the last licensing election. The road overseer was empowered to arrange with tho metal contractor for the repair of roads needing it. The clerk was instructed to collect all unpaid rates boforo tho 30th June or to sue for them. overseer’s report. The overseer’s report was as follows : The Chairman, Waipawa Town Board.— Sir, —I have the honor to report having been employed in various ways during my time for the month. On the 13th May took over tools from Mr G. Bose, and at once entered upon my duties, spreading metal Rnatauiwha road and footpaths and other duties, such as keeping water-tables cleaned out and on wet days attending to water-tables and dam, also putting in a small culvert across footpath behind railway station, together with impounding duties and weeding completes a short report of work for the month.
