WAIPUKURAU.
(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) The funeral of the late Mr G. Brownley took place yesterday afternoon, a great many following. The Salvation Army have started what is to bo a weekly service here. The first meeting was held in the Reobabito Hall on Monday and was well attended. Another successful rehearsal of “Uccle" took place on Tuesday. Tho boys of this town have taken to « very dangerous amusement, via, d ar t throwing. Oa Tuesday evening a little daughter of Mr R Scott nearly lost the sight of ono tyo from this cause. A boy had thrown up one of those darts and then seeing that it was going to fall amongst some children, called out “ look out.” The unfortunate child naturally lookod up, aud the dart hit bor right in the cornor of her eye aud stuck there some force being nocesssry to pull it out* Tho girl was taken to Dr Godfrey who examined her and found that the sight was not injured, but she will bavo to wear a shade for some days. She had a narrow escape. It is to bo hoped that the boyg will now find some other amusement lens likely to injure their playmates.
