KAIKORA.
(own correspondent! The Kaikora-Te Aute district school committee held thc-ii usual monthly meeting in the Mechanic’s Institute, last night. Present—Messrs Gray (chair), Mundell, Merryleoß, Ingleton, Wright and Clark. The head master’s report for the Kaikora school anent attendance was read as follows: —Number on roll, IG3 ; highest attendance, 154 : average for tho four weeks, 143, 121, 134, 116. The report for the Te Aute school allowed the aver age for the last four weeks to bo 36 8 The following correspondence was received : From the Education Board notifying that the annual examinations would bo held as follows :—Te Aute school, Monday, 6th August ; Kaikora school, Thursday and Friday, 9th and 10th August. Also forwarding result of pupil teachers examination. From the Taradalo School Committe re the exchange of Inspector every few years.—Resolved that this committee support the resolution proposed by tho Taradale committee. The visiting committee reported that they had the trees round the grounds all trimmed and other small necessary works oarried out. Messrs Clark and Merrylees wero appointed a visiting committee for the month. It was resolved that the winter holiday's for Te Aute commence ou the 7th and termiuato on the 17th August, and the Kaikora school to commence on the 10th and terminate on tbo 24th August.
The following accounts wero passed for payment:—To Aute account —M. Jones, £1 Is 6d. Kaikora account —W. Cray forJ, £3 9s 6d ; Mrs Kennedy 7, £1 18a 4d.
