LORD GORDON is a dark bay and very handsome horse, of good size and substance, active, and a sure foalgetter. He was bred at Gladbrook, Otago, by John Roberts, Esq., and is by Sir Arthur Gordon (No 161 “ N.Z. Stud Book ”), dam Darling 11, by Sir Colin, out of Darling (imp). Darling was a mare of great substance and quality, and a winner of many prizes. Darling 11, has only been shown twice, and .took one First Prize and one Second Prize. Sir Arthur Gordon, the sire of Lord Gordon, was bred by the Hon Matthew Holmes (Awaiaofi). and is by Young Banker (imp), who took First Prize at Johnstone Show in 1875. At the Glasgow , Show ib 187.6 he Btobd Second, and afterwords gained the First Prize in his class at Dumbarton and Kilbride Shows, while he has never been beaten in a show ring , in the Southern Hemisphere.
