Waipawa Town Board.

The adjourned meeting of the Board was held last night, Messrs McGreevy (chair), Harker, Collett, and Jull being present.

Correspondence read from the Justice Department with reference to the validating of the Waipawa hotel licenses. F.om the Properly Tax Department, notifying having forwarded vouchers for payment of £7O 4s, subsidy due the Board,

Tbe Works Committee reported that the drain authorised last meeting was in progress ; but that the work of altering the footpath aB far as Dr. Todd’s had not yet been started. Mr Collett drew attention to the fact that the work of altering the pipe culvert authorised iu Ruataniwha road, was to be done immediately. Why was it not started ?

The Clerk replied that the pipes were ordered and had only just arrived. Reference was made to the slate of tbe bush roads, particularly to tbs road running past Mr Carmichael’s. The members considered it inadvisable to undertake new works as they were so near the election of a new Board. The work referred to had been authorised some time ago, but funds were not available.

A desultory conversation took place with reference to the Ruataniwha Road culvert, Messrs Jull and Collett expressing the opinion that the work was quite unnecessary, and should never have been authorised.

The pay sheet for the month was passed Mr Sebley, £27 13s 4d ; M. Moroney, £2 6s 7d ; Rathbone, £4 17s 6d ; P. Skerrett, £4 4s ; B. B. Johnson, £4 10s ; Percy, £9 2s ; Blower, £2 2s ; total, £54 15s sd. An account of 16s 3d from Mr Mitchell, nightsoil contractor, was referred to Mr B. B. Johnson.
