NAPIER NOTES.
(BY TELEGRAPH.) (own correspondent.) This Day. At ibe R.M. Court this morning a man named George Lett waa fined £2 aid costs, and furth r to find a surety of £25 to keep the peace for three months for using insulting language to John Vigor Brown in Hastings Street yesterday. Mr Brown has made himself conspicuous in working with the townsmen as lumpers at the w.iarf, and has undergone a good deal of chaff and abuse as the result. He instituted this case with the above result. Rain commenced falling yesterday, and has continued without intermission ever since. A woman named Buller was this morning mulcted in a penalty of £2 for rescuing cattle at Papakura, which were being taken to the poand.
