ODDFELLOWS’ MEETING.

[by telegraph.] Woodville, This day. The half-yearly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay District, 1.0.0. F. M.U , was held at Woodville Lodge yesteiday, tho business commencing at 11 a.m. The District Officers present were : Messrs Samuel Tong, Grand Master, and Frank Bee, P.G.M., acting Corresponding Secretary. The following lodges wero represented by thedelega.es mentioned : Napier : Bros. D. Ilitchman, G M. ; S. E. Cooper, P.P.G.M. ; and Thotnas Sidey, P.G. Abbotsford Lodge : Bros. Martin Collett, P.P.G.M ; W. Brown, P.P.G.M. ; Albert E. JuH, E.S. Clive Lodge : Bro. John Newson, P,G. Taradule Lodge : Bro. George Bradley, P.G. Hastings Lodge : Bros. Charles Doney, P.G. ; and R. C. Sturm, P.G. Porangahau Lodge : Bro. R. Ward, P.G. Tavistock Lodge : Bro. John Sharpiu, P.G. Woodville Lodgo : Bro. J. Motley, P.G. Ruahice Lodge : Bro. Thomas Moore, P.G. Bro. Albert Jull, E.S., was appointed minute-secretary for the meeting. The Grand-Master gave an address con gratululing the District on their financial prosperity and also on the increase of membets during the last six months. The next business was the reports of Lodges and district which were adopted, and also tlie auditor’s report. The following were nom’naled as District Officers .—Bro. W. H. Coopov, D.G.M., for P.G.M ; Bro. John Sharpin, P.G., for D.G.M ; Bro. George Bradley, for D.G.M. ; Bro. William M Her, P.G., as Treasurer ; Bros, riitchman, Trios. Sidey, and J. Jones, as Auditors.

In acco*dance with resolution 5 on the Order Paper, it was resolved—“ That two delegales, namely, Bros. P.P.G.M. Co'lett, and Coi responding Secretary Fielder, be appointed to represent the Hawke’s Bay District at the Conference to he held at Christchu'ch in November next.” In accordance with resolution 6, it was resolved—“ That it is not advisable at present to establish uu A.M.C. for New Zealand.”

In accordance with resolution 7, it was resolved—“ That it is advisable that n uniform graduated scale of contributions should bo adopted throughout New Zealand.” In accordance with resolution 8 it was resolved “ That any member of a lodge in New Zealand can join any other Lodge in New Zealand by clearance without increasing his rate of contribution.’

In accordance with resolution 9 it was resolved “ That it is uot desirable at present that an Insurance fund bo started under the control of a central body.” Jii accordance with resolution 10 it was resolved “ That it is advisable that seme arrangemeniß shall be made in New Zealand by which a Brother compulsorily absent from his Lodge should receive attendance and medicine from the doctor of any Lodge where such attandance becomes necessary.” The general rule 64 provides for this.

Re resolution 11, that a Fidelity Insurance Fund be established, a letter was read from the Registrar of Friendly Societies re this matter, and it was resolved “ That the proposition be not entertained but that secretaries and treasurers be hound in a Fidelity Bond Company The valuation and report of the Hawke’s Bay Disirict and tho various lodges, as made by A. E- Wiggins, Esq., valuator, was read and from it 1 glean that our local lodge, the Abbotsford, has funds to meet £6OO. The report was adopted.

No 13, amendments to District Rules : —Rule 4, clause 2 was carried. Rule 6, clause 9. Rule 9, clause 3. Rule 11, clause 7, were all carried. Rule 27, clause clause 2 was postponed for further consideration. Rule 33, clause 5, and rule 33, clause 6, were carried. Rule 35 will stand over for consideration. Rule 36 stands ditt6.

The following places were nominated for the next Disirict Meeting to be held at; —Hastings, Porangahau, and Waipawa. It was resolved “ That tlie next first meeting be held at Waipawa in January next.”

A Purple Lecture was held at the closo of the meeting two candidates being initiated, Bro S. Tong, P.G.M., presidod, assisted by Bros. W. 11. Cooper, D.G.M., F. Bee, P.P.G.M., and Martin Collett, P.P.G.M.

The delegates from the different lodges were then invited to dinner by tho members of the local Woodvillo Lodge in tho house of Bro. Bickerton, the repa-t being iu his best style, and being done ample justice to as many good things were provided.
