Mr Whitaker, replying to Mr Chamberlain, said he saw no reason why the session should not end hy Wednesday week. CIRCULATION OF BILLS. Mr Whitaker moved that the Council do not consider any Bills not circulated among members 4S hours previously. Ultimately tho resolution wa* amended by “ reasonable time’* bein substituted for 48 hours, and carried. BILLS PASSED. The Waitara Harbor Loan Bill was passed by 10 to 9. The Licensing Act Amendment Bill, and the Waimate High School Bill, were read a third time and passed. SECOND READINGS. The Corrupt Practices Amendment Bill, and the Licensing Act Amendment Bill No. 2, were read a second time. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Wellington, August 27. The House met at 2.30 p.tn. OTAGO HARBOR BOARD LOAN. Mr M. W. Green moved the second reading of the Otago Harbor Board Loan Consolidation Bill. Mr Fish, while not opposing the Bill, thought it au unnecessary measure. Mr Macandrevr and Mr Turnbull both opposed the Bill, and Major Atkinson, Mr Bracken,and Mr Montgomery supported it. The Bill was read a second time. SECOND READINGS. The Wellington College Land Bill Timaru Mechanics* Institute Act Amendment Bill, and Christchurch Cathedral Square Bill, were read second time. IN COMMITTEE. The House then went into com mittee on the Otago Harbor Loai Consolidation Bill. Business was interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment.
