HAWKE’S BAY DISTRICT, 1.0.0. F., M.U.

.. The half-yearly meeting of the pfrbove District was held on Wednesday last, in the Hastings Lodge-room, when the following District officers were present: —P.G.M. Robb, D.G.M. Cooper, and Prov. C.S. Bee. The several Lodges in the district were represented as follows :—Abbotsford Lodge, Waipawa, P.G.’s Francis and Johnson; Napier Lodge, P.G. Edwards, N.G. Waddell, and V.G. Cooper; Victoria Lodge, Porangahau, V.G. McLean ; Tavistock Lodge, Waipukurau, N.G. Hamilton; Hastings Lodge, N.G. Sturm; Mea »ee Lodge, Sec. Bradley; Clyde Lodge, Wairoa, P.G. Combs; Clive Lodge, P.G. McPherson. Two Lodges, Takapau and Woodville, were unrepresented.

The P.G.M. read his report, showing that during the six months ending 31st December last, 60 new members had been admitted into the Order, making the number of benefit members under the rule of the District stand at 485, being a gain of 22 members ; that £209 15s 9d had been paid in medical fees, £66 in sick allowance, and £35 in funeral donations; and that the total capital of the lodges under the District amounted to £3773 11s 9d, being an increase of £325 11s 8d for the six months. Four deaths had occurred since the last meeting, viz., P.G-. Langley, of the Napier Lodge ; Bro. Davis, of the Clyde Lodge; the wife of Bro. A. Peebles, of the Abbotsford Lodge; and Bro. MTntyre, of the Clive Lodge, but the latter being out of compliance, was not entitled to the funeral donation. The District accounts were placed on the table, and to make' provision for the liabilities, the District officers recommended a levy for the funeral fund of 2s 6d on all members in compliance ; and also that for the management fund a levy be made of Is on all good members, as well as Is on new members. The recommendation was agreed to. Bro. B. Johnson moved, and Bro. G. Francis seconded, “ That the next District meeting be held at Takapau on the second Wednesday in September next, at 8 p.m.”—Carried. An application from the Woodville Lodge to hold their meetings monthly instead of fortnighly, as hitherto, was acceded to.

An application from the Hastings Lodge for permission to change their lodge-room from the schoolhouse to the Hastings Hotel was negatived on the motion of Bro. Edwards, seconded by Bro. Hamilton. The following were elected District officers for the ensuing six months:—Bro. S. E. Cooper, P.G.M.; Bro. F. Bee, D.P.G.M.; Bro. Fielder, Prov. C.S. P.P.G.M. Robb and P.G. Mogridge were re-elected trustees, and Bro. W. Miller, treasurer. The auditors appointed were N.G. Waddell and V.G. CoopeT, of the Napier Lodge.
