DELEGATES MEETING AT WAIPUKURAU.
The Hawke’s Bay District of tho T.0.0.F., M.U., was held at the Loyal Tavistock Lodge, Town Ilall, Waipukurau, on Wednesday last. The proceedings opened at II a.m., with D.G.M. Robb in the chair.
There were present the following representatives:—Loyal Napier J. B. Felder, P.G,;* T. Watt, and E. T. Turpin, N.G. Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, A. Peebles, P.G.; A. Corskie, P.G.; and W. Brown, secretary. Loyal Tavistock Lodge, M. Collett, P.G. Loyal Meanee Lodge, G. Bradley, P.G. Loyal Porangahau Lodge, W. Palmer, secretary ; Loyal Clive Lodge, R. Hatch, P.G. Loyal Takapau Lodge, C. Gibson, N.G. Loyal Hastings Lodge, R. Somerville, secretary. Loyal Clyde Lodge, W. Coombes, P.G. An opening address was delivered by tho D.G.M., after which the meeting went into district business. A considerable amount of business was brought forward, and thoroughly discussed, but being for the greater part of a semi-private nature, we do not consider it advisable to publish same. The business concluded about 3.30 p.m. It was decided that the next meeting of delegates should be held at Meanee. D.G.M. Robb was elected P.G.M. for the ensuing term ; P.G. Cooper, of Napier, was elected D.G.M.; and Bro. F. Bee was reelected corresponding secretary. Tho whole of the proceedings were replete with interest, and the reports showed that Oddfellowship has been making rapid headway in this province during the past year. At 5.30 p.m., a procession, headed by two Scotch pipers, and attended by about 40 members of the Order, started from the Town Hall, and marched through the principal streets in the township. The procession wa® headed by tho district officers, tho suboadinate offices and members following, and being arranged with regard to their respective positions. Secretary Brown, of the Abbotsford, and Secretary Monteith, of the Loyal Tavistock Lodge, acted -as marshalls. We must not omit to mention the banner, which was presented to tho Tavistock Lodge by Bro. G. Abrahams, of Waipawa, and which added much to the appearance of tho procession. Doubtless the procession would have boen much more largely attended had it not been for the unpropitious state of -the weather. Rain continued to fall all the evening in heavy showers, and as night set in, it increased in fury, until we were almost threatened with a deluge. It would seem, however, that the lovers of the ball were not to be daunted by the weather, for shortly after nine o’clock there wero nearly 50 couples in tho Town Hall whirling around in the dance to th*' inspiring strains of Mr C. Hardi piano. Tho terpsiehorean fraternity kept- up their merry measures with unabated vigor until live o’clock on Thursday morning, Bro. J. Gollan acting as M.C. The committee of management deserve great praise for tho excellent manner in which thoarrangements were carried o.it and for the skill evidenced in the hall decorations. Mr Brighouse, of Waipawa, supplied tho refreshments, which were all of tirst-class description, and in abundance.
