Welcome to Former St John Ambulance Member

OF PERSONAL INTEREST

A VERY enjoyable evening was] A held at the St. John Ambulance Depot last evening to welcome Mr R. B. Croke, of Opunake, a former member of the Brigade, who was returning home from a holiday in the north. The Divisional Superintendent, Mr F. T. Glanville, welcomed Mr Croke, who is Divisional Superintendent at Opunake, and congratulated him on the strength of the branch he had established there since leaving Cambridge 11 years ago. In an interesting talk, Mr Croke said he referred to the Opunake Division. as Cambridge No. 2, owing to the fact that he learnt all he knew about St. John work in Cambridge. A strong division had been built up at Opunake, and the activities covered an area of 250 square miles. Many of the-members came 15 miles or more to the fortnightly parades. On two occasions the members had been called out to assist with plane crashes, and in each case it was due to St. John members that the planes were located.

Mr Croke concluded by urging members to carry on their good work and the evening concluded with supper.
