Annual Meeting of Red Cross Sub-Centre

Mrs F. H. Hardy presided over an attendance of 30 members at the annual meeting of the Cambridge Sub-Centre of n the Red Cross on Monday, when the fol- *■ lowing officers were elected: — Patron, Mr K. L. Wilkinson; president, Mrs F. H. Hardy; vice-presidents, Messrs H. A. Pegg, W. O. Cubis, H. C. Todd; secretary, Mrs L. C. Bear; treasurer and auditor, Mr E. Littler; delegates to centre, Mesdames H. C. Tod, L. C. Bear, together with Mrs F. Hardy (member of Trust Board), Mrs H. A. Pegg (Junior Red Cross) and Miss VAppleby (Waikato Commandant V.A.D's). A strong committee was also elected. Mrs Hardy extended thanks to themembers for their help and co-operation during the past year, mentioning especially the institutes which had done sewing and knitting, and the work done by the Junior Red Cross. The year had been a happy one, added Mrs Hardy, including the entertaining of Lady Freyberg and Lady McCullock, of Scotland. It was hoped this year to concentrate on food for Britain, added the president. There wOuld also be home nursing and first aid lectures especially for young married women, who would be greatly assisted in the home by what they had learnt. The need for forming a V. A. Detachment was stressed by Mrs Tod, who endersed the remarks of the president concerning the arranging of lectures in home nursing. Miss Appleby intimated that shortly she would be attending a conference tin Wellington, where she hoped to gain new ideas for lectures. w. It was decided to make a special drive for new members this year. In anticipation of being allotted a [lay for duty at the Red Cross Stall at the Waikato Winter Show, Mrs P. Draie was appointed to make the arrangements.
