Saturday Draw Games On Cambridge Greens

The following are the results of ordinary draw games played at the Cambridge Club’s greens on Saturday. It was a glorious Autumn week-end and the bowlera played under very pleasant conditions. Hall. Curtain, Tozer, Boulion 23 v Leigh, D. Hooker, Hunter, Brindle 13. Russell, Watt;, J. Conder snr., Collins 20 v Klingender, Gould, Weatherell, Willims 14. EARLIER DRAW The aeting-President, Mr S. Lewis, announced that it had been decided to commence play next Saturday on the top (Winter) green and members were asked to particularly note that play would commence at 1 p.m. so that games could be completed by about 4 p.m. This is a good move for from now on the conditions quickly become cold and the green heavy after 4 p.m. Members will need to have their name in the draw by 12.50. This applies to both Wednesdays and Saturdays. CENTRAL CLUB During the week-end the Central Club held its annual “Townies” v “Cockies” match, which resulted in the former retaining the coveted “Meanie-Follas” cup

BANDMEN’S CHALLENGE Our playing members of the Cambridge Band have challenged any four member i of the Band’s General Committee. The challenge was accepted at the recent annual meeting and the teams will be: — Playing members: Geo. Boulton, M. Cubis, A. K. Fletcher, C. Kelly. Committee Veterans: W. Webber, J. Condeh snr., W. Meanie and V. G. Boulton. LEAMINGTON CLUB A tournament to decide the President’s Pairs Competition was held by the Leamington Bowling Club on Saturday, five rounds being played. The winners were P. R. Hunt and E. McDonnell with 5 wins and no losses ,with H. Tucker and W. J. Haliday runners-up with 4 wins and one loss. The next best with three wins and two losses were W. J. Harris and W. Booten, C. Kelly and R. McDonnell, J. Blackman and E. C. Hall. The Club’s Championship Singles has yet to be decided, the finalists being E. McDonnell and L. Carey. Next Saturday a match will be played for the Coconut Shield, between club teams representing players from the East and West sides of the River respectively. The following Sautrday, the club’s final open tournament will take place, there being a full entry already. Closing day is set down for May 21, and the following Saturday there will be a working bee to true the green, with a club social at night.
