Increase in Roll At Cambridge Primary School

An increase of 15 in the roll of the primary school was reported by the headmaster, Mr S. B. Dunn, at the monthly meeting of the Cambridge School Committee pn Monday evening. The primary roll stands at 491, and the secondary roll at 168, the latter being a decrease of one. Mr Dunn also reported on the recent visit of the school inspectors who had spoken highly of the staff and the ability of the pupils. The meeting decided to make immediate investigation into the delay in connection with the installation of central heating at the primary school. A previous assurance had been given that the work would be carried out before the May holidays. The recent gala at the high school had netted £IOO Is 6d, and a vote of .thanks was accorded the organising committee. The sum raised will be subsidised and used for the purchase of a Graveley mower. A reply was received from the Auckland Education Board in connection with the ground development scheme at the secondary department. It was stated that with the great amount of urgent work to be carried out, the project could be dealt with only in order of priority. A scheme plan would be prepared as soon as possible. The Cambridge Rugby Sub-Union was granted the use of the playing field at*the High School as in previous years. The headmaster reported that the school would close on Friday for the May holidays.
