SUPPORT FOR JUNE TERM HOLIDAYS
The Carterton District High School Committee supports the move to delay the first term holidays from May till June. The committee has decided to inform the Wellington Education Board that the change would benefit pupils and parents in rural areas. It is understood that the proposal is finding favour with many committees, and parents’ organisations in the Wairarapa, which would support the Taranaki Wanganui, Manawatu, Wanganui and Waikato districts in concerted recommendations. It is stated that families could go on holiday together and the farmers, by using the comparatively slack period in June, could take their children with them without depriving youngsters of their time at school.
