Re-Dedication of Trinity Church

SPECIAL SERVICE YESTERDAY ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED It was a memorable occasion at Trinity Presbyterian Church yesterday morning, when a dedication service was held to mark the completion of the renovations to the interior of the church, as part of the Peace Memorial Thanksgiving of the congregation, in gratitude to God for deliverance from the devastation of war, and in remembrance of those who made the supreme sacrifice. There was one of the largest attendances on record, many church adherents being present fi’om outstations. An appropriate ceremony was held in front of the church before the service commenced. The congregation assembled on the lawn at the side of the church while the Minister, the Rev. Colin MacKenzie, the Session and the Choir approached in ordered procession. Pausing before the closed door, the Minister knocked, and said: “Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and. I will praise the Lord.” The door was opened from the inside by Mr H. E. Davys ; and all entered reverently for worship. Appropriate hymns were sung, find the choir rendered the “Te Deum.” The Act of Dedication was carried out by Mr MacKenzie, after which a roll of honour was unveiled to the men of the congregation who were killed in action in World War 11. The unveiling was performed'by Mrs F. H. Anderson, and after a moment of silent remembrance, the Minister prayed. The names on the roll are: Eric A. Anderson, Trevor M. Ferguson, Ivor James, W. J. Telfer. In the afternoon, a special Baptismal service was held and in the evening there was a reception of communicant members.
