EVENING WEDDING

BATT—SKOUSGAAED Bowls of beautifully arranged daffodils in cream and golden shades, Iceland poppies and bows of freesias, primroses and daffodils on the pews, decked the way for the bride on Thursday evening last when Olga Dorothea, only daughter of Mr and Mrs M. F. Skousgaard, of Grey Street, Cambridge was wedded to Dr. Richard Dean Batt, third son of Mr and Mrs J. C. Batt, of Wanganui, at St. Andrew's Anglican Church. The Very Rev. C. W. Chandler performed the ceremony and Mr R. B. Boyce was the organist. During the signing of the register, Mrs V. C. Hollis rendered the solo "Ave Maria." Entering the church with her father, the bride made a becoming picture in a lovely gown of parchment shaded faconne, fashioned with a rounded yoke, gathered bodice, and flared peplum which fell into a graceful train. The neckline, yoke and peplum were edged with Gipure lace studded with clusters of tiny seed pearls. A halo of cream hyacinths secured her veil of delicately embroidered cream tulle, and she carried a shower bouquet of cream hyacinths, magnolia and freesias.

Maiding the bride were Misses Jean Edgar, of Rangitata, South Canterbury and Barbara Potts, of Te Puke, wearing picture frocks of aqua blue marquisette, fashioned with bouffant skirts, fichu necklines and draped apron fronts which formed a bustle at the back. In their hair they wore halos of cream and golden spring flowers and carried Victorian posies of freesias, primroses and daffodils. Loma Hargraves made a dainty little flower girl in her frock of aqua blue marquisette which was made with tiny puffed sleeves, a frilled neckline and very full gathered skirt. She wore a circlet of freesias and primroses in her hair, and carried a posy of matching flowers. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Gordon Batt, of Wellington, as best man, and by Mr Alan Skousgaard (brother of the bride) as groomsman. The duties of ushers at the church were carried out by Messrs T. Bredow, G. Tait, J. Wilkinson and F. Munroe. The Parish Hall, where a reception and dance was held, had been transformed into -a veritable bower of flowers, with masses of golden daffodils, Iceland poppies, flag lilies, freesias, grape hyacinths and priniThe guests were received by Mrs Skousgaard who wore a model gown of parma violet crepe trimmed with sequins, a matching hat of violet flowers with side drapings of violet ribbon and silver fox fur cape.
