PRE-WEDDING PARTY MISS MARGARET COX HONOURED Mrs T. Kelson Butler and Miss Nan Butler were joint hostesses at the former’s home at Karapiro on Tuesday afternoon in honour of Miss Margaret Cox who is to be married shortly. The drawing room and hall were gay with bowls of berries, tangitana iris and daphne. Mrs Butler wore a frock of holly red wool crepe and Miss Nan Butler a floral frock. The guest of honour wore a smart mushroom crepe frock with, brown facings.

WELCOME HOME MAUNGATAUTARI GATHERING On Saturday last at the Maungatautari No. 2 School a happy gathering of settlers met to bid a welcome home to Lieut. R. J. Scarlett, who has returned after being overseas for the last four years. Recitations by Miss Jessie Osborne were much appreciated, also two songs by Mrs R. Currie. ' Mr C. H. La Trobe, on behalf of the gathering welcomed Lieut Scarlett back to his home district. Lieut. Scarlett suitably replied and thanked everyone for the friendly interest in his behalf. The ladies . provided a welcome afternoon tea and a sociable hour concluded a pleasant afternoon. Mr. Jack Scarlett of Stratford was fortunate in being a£le to attend with bis sister and four brothers completed the family group. LYCEUM CLUB BRIDGE CIRCLE MEETS The bridge circle of the Lyceum Club met again on Tuesday afternoon when bowls of berries and winter leaves and a bright fire made the lounge very cheery. y Those present were Mesdames J.
