CHESS NOTES
GRADING TOURNAMENT THE FINAITpOSITIONS (By “White Knight”) The final positions in the Cambridge Chess Club’s grading tournament are as follows: H. L. Hooker, first, one points ahead of G. I. Vinall, with M. Wells third. These three competitors are well ahead of the others.
An inter-club match was played with Matamata, Cambridge losing by eight matches to six. The return match is being eagerly awaited. A ladder has now been arranged which should make for added interest and keen competition. Two improved players are W. Mitchell, junior member, and K. Keyte, one of the regular attenders. The membership has now reached the 30 mark, and the weekly attendance is very good.
