RUGBY AT MEMORIAL PARK HAUTAPU AND HYDRO WIN In ideal weather, the Rugby season was opened in Cambridge on Saturday; when Competitions were commenced in three grades. The new grounds at Memorial Park were in good order, and a large attendance of spectators Witnessed some interesting games. In the seniors,. Hautapu fielded practically the same team as last year, and (displaying good combination had no difficulty in defeating - United by 23 points to nil. The Karapiro- Hydro produced a good team to beat Leamington by 21 points to 11. The junior games resulted: Hautapu 13 beat Old Boys 8; Leamington beat Mataagi; United 32 beat Roto-o-rangr 0. In the latter game, Roto-o-rangi suffered two casualties early in the play. Old Boys beat Hautapu by 8 points to 3 in the third grade, and’ United A beat United B. Waikato Referees.. There was a very good attendance at the annual meeting of tHe Waikato Rugby Referees’ Association,, indicating a keen interest inyxhe affairs of the body.
