RAGLAN SEAT

BY-ELECTION ON MARCH 5 ROLLS CLOSE TO-DAY Tuesday, March 5, has been fixed as the date for the by-election in the Raglan electorate caused by the recent death of Mr R. Coulter, M.P. Tavo candidates have been announced for the contest, these being Flight-Lieutenant Alan C. Baxter, of Otorohanga, who Avill represent the Labour Party, and Mr Hallybnirton Johnstone, of WhataAvhata, avlio has been chosen to represent the National Party. There has been no indication as to Avhether there Avill be additional candidates, but it is likely that the election Avill be a straight-out contest between the two candidates named. Rolls Close To-day. Tho acting-Prime Minister, • the Hon. W. Nash, has announced in Wellington that the Avrit for the Raglan by-election Avould be issued to-day, February I, and the nominations would close on Saturday, February 10. The rolls Avould close at G p.m. on the day of the issue of the Avrit.
