REST ROOM

SEPARATE ENTRANCE PROVIDED LONG NEEDED IMPROVEMENT ______ The ladies of the Cambridge district will be pleased to learn and notice the improvements that are being undertaken at the Ladies' Rest Room in Cambridge. When this work is completed the ladies' rest room will be self contained and have anj entrance that does not face directly on to the main street. Previously the only entrance was from the edge of the footpath on the main street and it had to serve at least a dual purpose, and, to say the least, the doorway was .quite often congested On certain days of the week the v district Plunket Nurse would have a continual stream of mothers with their prams and babies attending ' for her help and guidance; while the ladies' rest room was also being oatronised by country residents. Now it will be possible for mothers and their babies to visit the Plunket Nurse in comparative comfort. When • these improvements were authorised, about six months ago, one of the main objects was to provide the Maori women of the district a separate entrance to the rest room and to leave the entrance to the Plunket rooms solely for mothers and their babies. However, since then the Maori people, under the organisation of Miss Martin, have been building up a fund to provide themselves with a rest room of their own. If this is 1 to become a material fact the tion at the Plunket Rooms will be greatly relieved and the original plans may. be modified.
