OBITUARY

MRS ROSE COULTER FORMER CAMBRIDGE RESIDENT On Sunday last the death occurred at the Waikato Hospital of a former resident of Cambridge in Mrs Rose Coulter, wife of Mr James Coulter, of Paeroa,'aged 62 years. The late Mrs Coulter and her husband and family came to Cambridge from Whakatane about seven years ago. They had resided at Whakatane for many years. About 18 months ago Mr and Mrs Coulter went to reside with a daughter at Paeroa. The deceased is survived by her husband and family of two sons and two daughters. They are Messrs Morice Coulter (Cambridge), Dudley Coulter (Waharoa); Mesdames D. G. Clark (Tauranga) and R. W. Archer (Paeroa). There are seven grandchildren. MRS MARY PHILLIPS. WELL-KNOWN FENCOURT RESIDENT The death occurred at the residence, Fencourt, on Monday last of an old resident of the district in Mrs Mary Phillips, wife of the late Mr Matthew Muir Phillips, aged 77 years. The late Mrs Phillips was horn in Campbeltown, Scotland, and was married at Dumbarton. The family came to New Zealand about 35 years ago and deceased had resided in the Waikato ever since. In 1919 the property at Fencourt was taken up and deceased had resided there since. Mrs Phillips was a staunch Presbyterian and in her earlier life in Scotland she took a very active part in the work of the church, especially the Ladies’ Guild. She was the possessor of a most generous and likeable character, and was held in the greatest esteem by a wide circle of friends. Mrs Phillips had enjoyed extremely good health until a few weeks, ago. Her husband predeceased her in. 1934 and she is survived by one daughter and one son. They are Mrs F. Cooper (Cambridge) and Mr M. T. Phillips (Fencourt). Another son, Thomas, was wounded at Gallipoli and died of wounds in England in the Great War. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
