TUDOR THEATRE

“DOUBLE INDEMNITY” FINALLY TO-NIGHT The Paramount picture “Double Indemnity” will be shown at the Tudor Theatre to-night. Gloriously filmed in technicolour, “Home in Indiana,” which commences to-morrow at the Tudor Theatre, is an utterly welcome sequel to 20th’s two memorable excursions into the romance and drama of horse racing, “Kentucky” and “Maryland,” both of which this new film surpasses in breathtaking beauty, dramatic impact and stirring action. Featuring Walter Brennan, Lon McCallister, Jeanne Crain, Charlotte Greenwood, June Haver and an outstanding supporting cast, the picture is based on the celebrated Saturday Evening Post serial, “The Phantom Filly,” by George Agnew Chamberlain. “Home In Indiana” tells its beautiful aud exciting story of spirited youth, lovely women, fast horses and proud men against the brilliantly colourful background of county fairs and the great “apple pie” country in the most dazzling beautiful technicolour this reviewer has ever seen.

In the film produced by Andre Daven and directed by Henry Hathaway, Walter Brennan gives what is easily his most outstanding character portrayal to date. His role—that of “Thunder” Bolt, the proud horse trainer whose shattered dreams are revived by a young and impetutous boy and 'a “secret” filly—is tailormade to the three-time Academy Award winner who plays it with deep understanding and warmth. On every count—story, production, direction, sheer beauty and acting performances —“Home In Indiana” stands in a class by itself. It’s really grand entertainment, a delightful tonic for these times that shouldn’t be missed.
