PRESIDENT’S TROPHY

The first round of the 36-holcs medal competition for the president’s trophy was played on Satur- , day. ' After heavy rain during the week some of the greens were soft and only two players were successful in playing to, or better, than their handicaps. Robin Alford is in the lead, playing a 92 off his 24 handicap for a net 08, which is three strokes below his handicap. He only leads B. Osborne sen. 2-1. The senior men’s championship was won by G. Russell who beat A. McViear 2—l in the final. A medal round played on the same day resulted in a win for P. * 90-34-02 net. His handican has accordingly been reduced to 30. Other good scores were: A. McViear 94-24 net 70, and R. Strawbridge 101-20 net 71. Tip ladies’ section was won by Miss- Gladys Vosper who returned a e:trd 101-33 net 08. Miss M. Peake \ was second with net 78.
