KARAPIRO HYDRO
ESCAPE FROM DEATH
TRUCK LANDS IN THE RIVER Mr L. A. Mountin', who was driving a tryek carting spoil at the hydro works, had a miraculous escape from death when his truck became out of control. The truck gained great speed as if rushed towards the river bank, and had not the driver the presence of mind to jump clear before the truck went hurtling into the river, he may easily have lost his life. As it was he sustained injuries of a slight nature, and was in a dazed condition for some time. Heavy bulldozers were quickly on the job of dragging the truck from the river.
