I At the annual meeting of the vV Cambridge Rugby Union (an old minute book of which has recently : Some to light), held on 4th May, 1907, the management committee reported that the last season was f’ ; not as successful as it should have ’fc been. “The principal cause of it was it that the different clubs were a long time getting fairly started, to which fact is attributed the financial state of the Union, as the secretary could not see his way clear to canvass for donations from honorary members until he was satisfied that football was going to be supported by the different clubs, and in the meantime one of the club’s secretaries ffrestalled him.” the year a management committee, comprising men not interested in anyone particular club, •was formed. They had worked nard and zealously to forward the interests of the Union, the report added. Reference was also made to the formation of an enthusiastic Referees’ Association. ( “During the season the Combined Waikato Unions played two matches against Auckland, one of which they won. “Your Union had only one solitary representative in those ,matches.” . ' There Were four rep. matches flayed—two with Waipa, one with V. Hamilton, and one with Matamata the last of which was the only win y for Cambridge. The senior championship of 1900 was won by the City team. The minutes also recorded the resignation of the president, Mr J. Sinclair, owing to his having left the district. At a meeting of the management

committee, held on sth August, it was decided to affiliate with the Waikato Rugby Union, and to express regret at not having done so before. .
