DOUBLE ROLL OF HONOUR SOLDIERS’ CLUB PROPOSAL The proposal to erect a double honours board in the new Soldiers’ Club in Cambridge, to commemorate the men who laid down their Jives in both the war of 1914-18 and in the present struggle, is one that will meet with unanimous approval. In the two years and eight months that have passed since the Second World War began, 25 Cambridge men have lost thpir lives, all but two of them on active service. They include two seamen, six airmen, and 17 soldiers. The list, so far as it can be ascertained, is as relatives of men who will not return, but whose names are not included, should notify “ The Independent ” Office so that they will be included in the roll of honour with the following:— BRUNSKILL, B. I It is appropriate that the rolls of bnnour will be inscribed on slabs of oak cut from a free'which grew in the grounds of the present club. Arrangements to have these sawn, •md for the names to be inscribed in cold lettering are at present well • under way. 1
]} has been suggested bv the president (Mr F. H. Green) that-the roll should hang in the entrance hall, which should be known as the
•“ Hall of Memories.” Special marks of respect would be paid by members to this particular part of the club, which would also contain appropriate photographs and souvenirs from both wars.
