IN PALESTINE

N.Z. ATHLETES’ SUCCESS ALLIED COMPETITION (N.Z.E.F. Official News Service.) CAIRO, May J. , New Zealanders performed .with considerable success at a united services’ athletic meeting held, in Palestine. Prominent athletes of many Allied countries competed on a difficult cinder track. McHugh (Christchurch) won the 100 metres narrowly beating Masters (Auckland), who was running bare-footed. Time, 11 2-10 sec. He also won thr 200 metres by several yards in 23 9-10 sec. Ollivier (Christchurch) won the shot putt with 41ft llin. Second place was gained by Boot '(Christchurch) in the 8000 metres, the winner’s time was 2min 0 8-10 sec., being a Palestine record. Ffindlay (Hamilton) was second in the 400 metres, being beaten by a yard. Cardwell was third in the 1500 metres, and Weller was third in the 3000 metres, both events were run in record time for Palestine. Finlayson (Auckland) was second in the long jump, 21ft. New Zealanders scored a runaway victory in the relay. Boot gave the team a handsome lead in the 800 metres, which was increased by Masters and .McHugh and maintained by Findlay.

Meeting by chance at a Wellington restaurant they got yarning about diet—and doctors. “It’s sel- j dom I trouble doctor,.” laughed one, | “but last Christmas I had to. Nerves all to pieces. Well, I took his tip. Nerves quieted down after a bit. Right as rain now!—and I’m saying money.
