CrfANGE-OVER TO CHEESE AN AGREEMENT APPROVED "I feel that this agreement will stand always to the credit of the co-operative movement," said Mr W. Marshall, at a meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association, when referring to the draft agreement effecting transfer of suppliers from butter to cheese factories, on loan during the war period. ( Mr Marshall added that the agreement was resilient and honoured the spirit of the desire to increase cheese production. The draft agreement had been prepared by Mr W. P. Gray after consultation with a special committee of the association.

The agreement, said the chairman, Mr S. A. Ferguson, had been unanimously approved by the committee. He asked the meeting to confirm it, Mr Gray read the agreement and explained details. It provided that the agreement was between butter companies and cheese companies, and would be effective during the war and the period of emergency up to a year after the cessation of hostilities. It affected only temporary suppliers to cheese companies.

The cheese companies would ac : cept loaned suppliers until the maximum capacity of the factory was reached, and immediately at the elid of the period of emergency the butter companies would arrange to receive from the loaned supplier all his supplies, previously sent to a cheese factory, for one complete dairy season. The cheese company would not issue shares to a temporary supplier. Provision was made for disputes to be settled by arbitration.

Mr Marshall moved that the draft agreement be approved, and that all companies be circulated asking for support. Mr P. H. Hawke seconded the motion. After an hour's discussion of various aspects, the motion was carried with only one dissentient.
