AN IDEAL HOLIDAY CAMBRIDGE RESIDENTS RETURN Mr and Mrs G. W. Thompson returned to Cambridge during the week-end after a holiday spent at Mercuj-y Bay. They met a number of other Cambridge residents at this remote part of the Coromandel Peninsula, which has become a popular holiday resort. The fishing and bathing was excellent, said Mr Thompson. From the rocks or boat, fish could be caught in large numbers. The craft at the bay were always in demand, and it was necessary to book well ahead for a deep-sea fishing trip.

ELECTRICITY ON THAMES COAST COMMENT FROM VISITORS Many of the visitors to the Thames Coast beach baches this holiday season have made eulogistic references to the provision of electricity at the resorts. A Cambridge man who has patronised the Coast for years claimed that the provision of power had done, and would do, more to popularise the Coast than anything else, other than perhaps the full tar : sealing of the highway. CAMPING POPULAR THE LURE OF WAIHI Many campers from Cambridge have turned their cars in the direction of Waihi Beach this year. Tents and caravans are dotted around the fownshin and fishing or picnicking are the order of the day. Many of the campers come from the Waikato and King Country, but camping parties from both North and South Islands have increased Waihi's popularitv this year.
