THE ROTO-O-RANGI CLUB OPENING OF SEASON The Roto-o-rangi Tennis Club held its official opening on Saturday when there was a fair attendance of members and friends. After a short speech by the president, Mr M. Dillon, the vice-captain, Miss B. Peake, served the first bally-'to-de-clare the season open. - * > Miss B. Peake arid Mr H. Wiles, the of the club’s championship singles the previous season, were each presented with a iriiniatiire cup. A delicious afternoon tea, served by the ladies, completed a pleasant afternoon. Club’s Officers The officers of the club for the present season are: Patron, Mr R. Martin; president, Mr M. Dillon; secretary, Mr L. Wiles; vice-presi-dent, Mr C. W. Ivendon; committee, Misses B. Peake and D. Carson, Messrs M. Dillon, C. W. Kendon, L. Wiles; club captain, Mr M. Dillon; vice-captain, Miss B. Peake; delegates to sub-association, Messrs M. Dillon and C. W. Kendon.
ST. ANDREW’S CLUB OPENING OF SEASON In spite of showery weather there » was a very good attendance •at St. Andrew’s tennis courts when the season was opened on Saturday. Proceedings were somewhat delayed, owing to rain and a few visitors left. However as the weather cleared quickly the opening was proceeded with. The Rev. C. W. Chandler in opening the season, congratulated the members on the condition of the courts. He wished the club a successful season, and stated tnat Sunday play would be permited under the same rules as in previous years. Mrs Chandler then served the first ball, after which friendly • games were played, the afternoon then being beautifully fine.
