TUDOR THEATRE
"MARSHALL OF MESA CITY" ALSO "THE ESCAPE" A vivid chapter from the history of the American West is incorporated in "The Marshall of Mesa City," George O'Brien's latest starring outdoor drama, which will be screened at the Tudor Theatre tonight and tomorrow. During the latter part of the nineteenth century, the Western frontier was over-run with gunmen, outlaws and criminals of every description. To meet this emergency, there arose the quick-thinking, fast-shooting peace officer. It is such a role that George O'Brien portrays in "The Marshall of Mesa City." He is seen as the honest officer prepared to defend with his life the citizens of Mesa City. His chief enemies are the unscrupulous sheriff of the town and his renegade benchmen. When the marshall institutes a reform, the. sheriff combats it. Prisoners of the marshall are released with minor fines by the town's judge, who is in league with the sheriff. Faced with such a situation, O'Brien follows a drastic course. He decides to live by the gun, and the results are rapid-fire, with a dramatic, thrilling climax. An able cast, including Virginia Vale, Leon Ames, Henry Rrandon, Llody Ingraham, Mary Gordon and others support O'Brien. "The Escape," a thrilling melodrama of New York's East Side, will be shown on the same programme, with Kane Richmond, Amanda Duff, June Gale, Edward Norris, Henry Armetta and Frank Reicher in the cast.
