BATSMEN IN FORM EASTER FIXTURES ARRANGED With the certainty of at least two Auckland senior teams visiting Cambridge during Easter, it is pleasing to see so many local players in top form; : Until recently bowlers had been continually in the limelight, but on Saturday last batsmen in both local teams showed their best form to date, and the fact that each side compiled over 200 runs and both are tieing in competition points, augurs well for a great play-off between them for the Waitemata Cup. The first century by a Cambridge player this season was that of R. Rogers, and he fully deserved that honour through his consistent form during the season. He has been a tower of strength to the A team, and during his knock on Saturday produced all his best shots. W. Munroe has into a consistent opening batsman and with C. Boyce again gave his side a good start. His sound defence has been a big factor in the team's successes.

Although Hamilton High School sent a young side to play Cambridge B's at the Square, the team included one or two promising players and their attack, if not brilliant, was steady. This was evidenced by the safety first methods adopted by the B's batsmen.

Conder's was a bright opening knock in his best style, but the only other batsman to score freely was M. Woolley, who showed his usual wide variety of well-timed shots in his knock for 74. It was pleasing to see him wait for the right ball to hit, which indicates that at last he has learned the value of patience. His five sixes left no doubt in the umpire's mind. In marked contrast to Woolley's innings was that of I. Litchwark, but his sound and careful C 4 not out was of the utmost value to the side. It was a fine effort to regain lost form and was a splendid restraining influence on his more impetuous team mates. Both matches will be concluded on Saturday.

The Middlemore and Y.M.C.A. Cricket Clubs from Auckland will visit Cambridge on Good Friday and Easter. Saturday respectively, and it is hoped that all local players who can possibly do so will make themselves available for these matches.

These Auckland sides go to considerable expense to carry out these visits for the good of country cricket, and this will be a great opportunity for local enthusiasts to see first-class cricketers in action. As these visits ares annual committee hopes that all players will rally round and help to make them the v successes they: have been in the past. Game at Auckland
