TAURANGA TOURNAMENT CAMBRIDGE TEAMS RETURN The members of the three Cambridge teams that competed at the Tauranga tournament have returned home after a pleasant week, in spite of the unsettled weather. None of the teams qualified for post-section play, although good bowls were played. Seven wins out of nine games were required to qualify, and the best performance was that of A, Hulme, M. J. McNamara, S. Lewis and W. White, with six wins. J. A. Wallace, H. Bromwich, N. McFarlane and C. A. Finch gained four wins, and W. R. Laurent, A. G. Glow, J. Linsley and W. R. Edwards, although not so successful, had the exasperating luck to lose three games running, after being equal on the last head. The tournament was won by Proud, Elliott, Brighting and Roberts (Carlton), who defeated Guinness, Mirriellees, Lewis and Tamblyn (Tauranga) by 19 points to 9. Pairs Tournament A pairs tournamen t was commenced on Thursday, in which two ~ Cambridge teams performed with credit. H. Hammond and C. A. Finch reached the semi-final, being eliminated after an. extra head had been played. E.«McDonnell and W. F. Laurent went through to the final, after an extra head had to be played in their semi-final game. They were narrowly defeated in. the final by a pair skipped by T. Bartlett, of Tauranga South.
