New Police: Station.—Advice was received yesterday by Mr W. S. Goosman, member for Waikato, from the; Hon. P. Fraser, that work will be commenced shortly on the erection of a new police station in Cambridge.

The Petrol Restrictions.—Making benzine go as far as possible is very important while the restrictions are being imposed, and users of petrol are advised to peruse the special advertisement on page three of this issue.

Centennial Postage Stamps.—-A new stamp of the Centennial postage series will be placed on sale on March 8 next. The new stamp, which is of the 8d denomination, is of the same design and colours as the present 7d value which will be withdrawn from sale at the close of business on March 7.

Cambridge Headmaster.—The appointment of a headmaster to succeed the late Mr J. G. Catran will be finalised at the meeting of the Auckland Education Board on Wednesday next. The Cambridge School Committee has examined the list of applicants for the position, and has approved of the Education Board’s recommendation.

Trs'es Near Power Lines.—“ Definite action is being taken to eliminate the danger caused by trees overhanging the power lines,” said the manager, Mr R. Sprague, at the meeting of the Thames Valley Power Board last week. “Already 164 consumers have received tabulated lists of the dangers, and eventually every consumer will be supplied with these notices,” he added.

Can Have ■ Our Weather.—Gisborne is experiencing a very hot and dry. summer season, and rain is badly, needed; in fact, matters are becoming serious for the farmer, according to a. letter received in the district. Gisborne can have some of our excessive rainfall, for Cambridge has lately had more- than enough.

Fines for Drunkenness. —Joseph Kelly was charged in the Cambridge Court on Thursday, with being drunk in the National Hotel on February 12, and failing to leave the premises when requested to do so by the licensee. He was also charged with procuring liquor during, the currency of a prohibition order. On the first charge he was fined £l, and on the second £2, with costs amounting to £1 16/-.
