PRIME MINISTER’S MAIL SCRUTINISED BY CENSOR According to a message from Sydney, overseas letters written by the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) are liable to- the same censorship as those of any other person. * A cable from; New York said that a letter.; to an Australian business man was marked “Opened by Censor.” It was pointed out in consequence that all overseas communications were subject to censorship. The censorship was relaxed, however, in the case of routine Government mail, if if Was vouched for by a person, in authority within the partment;Mail dispatched privately by the Prime Minister, although dealing only with business matters, would not escape censorship unless it was addressed to a person holding diplomatic rank in- the British Empire or in a neutral country.
