BURDEN OF COSTS
FARMERS EXPRESS CONCERN INVITATION TO MINISTER Concern at the continued rising costs for farmers was expressed at a meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association in Hamilton this week, when it was decided to write to the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, inviting him to come to Hamilton to discuss with the farmers of the district the position that has arisen, especially with regard to increased transport costs. All members agreed that a conference with the Minister was necessary as the increasing costs were rapidly becoming too big a hurdle for the farmers. No date for the meeting was fixed, it being decided to invite the Minister to name a date which would suit him, although the urgency of the question will also be pointed out to him.
