SOCIAL AFTERNOON BOWLING SEASON ENDS

The closing of the Cambridge bowling season, 1 on (Saturday was marked by a . social afternoon, given by the president and his wife, Mr and Mrs W. R. Garrard. Surrounded by beautiful carpet gardens, the greens were a picturesque sight. The pavilion was lined with ladies keenly interested in the progress of the games, and revelling in the glory of the shrubs and trees which were turning golden and crimson, in the sunshine of a belated autumn. The attractive decorative scheme in the pavilion, where afternoon tea was served, was of bronze dahlias, chrysanthemums and marigolds massed together in large bowls, which were placed at intervals on the table. Mrs Garrard welcomed her guests wearing a tweed costume and navy sailor hat. At the conclusion a presentation of trophies was made, Mrs Garrard receiving a bouquet from Miss Dawn Hooker.

WAIKATO HUNT CLUB SPECTATORS AT OPENING MEET A perfect afternoon on Saturday attracted a large crowd to "Ngaheke," the home of the Master, at Fencourt, for the opening meet of the Waikato Hunt. A splendid number of spectators followed the exhilarating sport of red-coated huntsmen, the day being full of interest for hound and horse-lovers.
