RUGBY CONTROL

FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY TAUPIRI TO VISIT The weekly meeting of the Cambridge Rugby Sub-union Management Committee was held last evening when the president, Mr D. Bourke, presided over a full attendance of delegates. The secretary of the Central (Stag) Committee forwarded a rearranged draw for the senior Stag competition as the result of a late acceptance of Raglan into the competition. The committee approved of the draw, but with a request that the Old Boys v. United game set down for Rugby Park, Hamilton, on June 17, be played at Cambridge, in view of the fact that the new draw allows for no game at Cambridge that day. The committee is further requesting to have the Putaruru-Hautapu game, set down for June 24, at Rugby Park, to be changed to Cambridge to save travelling, especialling, especially for Putaruru; otherwise Putaruru will not play at Cambridge during the season.

Grandstand at Square

The Borough Council wrote regretting it could not subsidise a grandstand scheme at Victoria Square, as a centennial mark for Cambridge, because it had promised to subsidise the Bath Improvement Society's improvemen scheme. However, no objection would be raised to the Rugby Union going ahead with a scheme on its own account.

After discussion, it was decided to set up a sub-committee to go fully into the matter. The committee is as follows: Messrs D. Bourke, T. Reilly, C. G. Wallace, A. Moore, H. Roberts, T. Dagg and the secretary.

Mr Geo. Clayton tendered his resignation as third-grade selector, owing to his being transferred to Hamilton. Regret was expressed by the committee and members wished Mr Clayton the best of fortune in his new position. Mr A. Thompson, is to be asked to take up the position of third-grade selector.
