CLEVER DOGS
SHEEP DOG TRIAL EVENTS AT THE SHOW All the dogs gave a very pleasing: performance, stated Mr H. F. Alloway, of Putaruru, when commenting on the sheep dog trials. The placed., dogs had done really good work and it had been difficult to distributethe awards. The sheep had provided: a really good test for the dogs which had shown evidence of 'excellent training. The officials connected with this section, added! Mr Alio way, have shown willing cooperation and were in no small extent responsible for the success of the trials. Mr McNaughton won the Broad Shepherd’s Crook for the fourth year. Results were: Open short head, pull, drive and yard event: P. McNaughton’s Nell, 87 points, 1; G. Lang’s Pet, 70 points, 2; E. Johnstone’s Chum, 69 points, 3. Short head, pull, drive and yard event: G. Lang, 43 points, 1; P. McNaughton, 40 points, 2; E. Johnstone, 39 points, 3. WORKING DOGS Judge: Mr H. F. Alloway (Putaruru) Shorthaired working dog: JNorthcott 1, V. D. Northcott 2, F. Hicks 3. Longhaired working dog: I. Brunskill 1, J. Northcott 2, Horne Bros. 3. . Beardie working dog: F. Tail 1, Horne Bros. 2.
