SATURDAY'S BRIDE

WEDDING OF INTEREST CALVERT—HOLMES ' A very picturesque wedding and one of wide interest to the district took place on Saturday at St. Andrew's Church, when Edith May, third daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Holmes, of Bruntwood, was married to Maurice George, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. R. Calvert, of Cambridge. The Rev. J. M. Beaufort officiated and the wedding music was played by Mr A. G. Boyce. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in magnolia chiffon draped in Grecian style, with a deep panel of ruching in the front. Wide lapels on the bodice were studded with pearls which were also used to edge the sunray-pleated train. The full sleeves were ruched in the same manner as the frock to just below the elbow, where they fitted tightly to the wrist. A long veil of tulle was caught to the head with a narrow swathe of chiffon and clusters of orange blossom, and was brought forward to form a cap-like peak in front. She carried a trailing bouquet of cream tiger-lilies. The bridesmaids, Miss Rona CaU vert and Miss Myrtle Holmes, and the flower girls, Elsie Holmes and Barabara Calvert, made an attractive picture all dressed alike in frocks of leaf-green georgette, which were pleated from neck to hem. Flat velvet flowers defined the necklines and hip-yokes of the bridesmaids' frocks, and the high waistlines of the flower girls' frocks. Little peaked turbans of matching georgette and velvet flowers with deep eye-veils were worn by the bridesmaids and halo hats of pleated georgette by the flower-girls They carried sheaves of coral-col-oured gladioli. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Selwyn Holdgate as jbesl man, and Mr Roy Calvert, j groomsman. The ushers were McsIsrs Jack Holmes, Ross Savers and j Douglas Calvert. '

A reception was held afterwards at the home of the bride's parents, where a large marquee had been erected and decorated with flowers in autumn colourings. Mrs S. Holmes received her guests wearing a smart frock of navy cellulose striped georgette, and a wide navy straw hat. She carried a bouquet of shaded pink carnations. Mrs G. R. Calvert, mother of the bridegroom, wore a handsome gown of Mediterranean blue ripple lame with matching- hat.' Her bouquet was of cherry coloured flowers. Mrs C. Wallace, sister of the bride, was wearing a frock of navy floral.crepe and a large a'avy hat, and Miss, Betty Calvert wore a pale turquoise pleated crepe -de-chine: frock and a matching hat. Miss N, Holmes, aunt of the bride, was in a navy floral

crepe frock, with matching hat. For travelling, the bride chose a light-weight suit of petrol-green with a small matching turban and a fox fur..
