SUCCESSFUL YEAR REVIEWED

OFFICERS ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Cambridge Golf Club was held in the Council Chamber last evening, when the president,. Mr W- R - Garrard, presided over an attendance of 50 men and lady members.

The annual report showed another year of progress in the affairs of the club. The total income for the year amounted to £627, as compared with £502 for the previous year, an increase of £125. The year commenced with a credit balance of £1 9/5 and ended with a credit balance of £7l 10/4. Men's subscriptions increased by £Bl, ladies by £23, and non-playing junior and honorary by £25 over the figures of the previous year. There had also been an increase of £2O in the green fees collected. On the other side the chief increase in expenditure was the amount of wages paid which increased by £9O over the previous year to £277. "Although the year ended with a credit balance of £7l it will stilt be necessary to nurse carefully the funds of the club in view of the fact that the club will be faced with the purchase of a new mower for the cutting of the fairways at any moment," continues the report.

During the year the usual interclub matches were played and interest was maintained in the club competitions throughout the season. The ladies' senior championship was won by Miss Jean Brewer and the junior by Miss Jean Feisst. The men's senior championship was won by Mr R. Alford, the intermediate by Mr M. Woolley and the junior by Mr W. Wood.

During the golfing season functions in connection with the Jubilee of the Cambridge Borough were held. The club held Jubilee tournaments which were very successful. The annual golf ball was also held during the year and the club's thanks were due to the efforts of those who assisted, and especially to the ladies. A profit of £l6 was. made. The thanks of the club are again to be accorded both the ladies' secretary, Miss Brann, and the club secretary, Mr C. R. Haworth, who had a particularly heavy season with the Jubilee tournament and Blyde Cup competition, in addition to the usual Club tournaments. The green-keeper, Mr W. Rush, conscientiously attended to the care of the links under the supervision of the green superintendents. The committee thanked all members for their loyal support during the past season. A notice of motion to raise the annual subscription resulted in considerable discussion, and it was finally decided that the ladies' subscriptions be increased by 10/-. .vhile the . men's. subscription Will 'emain as at present.
