CAMBRIDGE QUOTATIONS BEEF VALUES EASIER The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on the Cambridge stock sale held on Monday .-—Cattle: A large entry was yarded,! but there was a scattering only of good to heavy beef sorts. Most were unfinished and store Jersey. Reject bulls were in heavy supply. Throughout the sale the range of values compared unfavourably with those recorded at this, centre three weeks ago. However, the reduced standard was little, if anything, below recent Frankton realisations. A good clearance resulted. Heavy beef cows £5 12/6 to £7; medium quality fat cows £4 ,10/- to £5 10/-; unfinished condition £3 15/to £4 7/6; light £3 5/- to £3 15/-; heavy boners £2 12/6; others up to £2 10/-; heavy potter bulls £7 5/to £8 2/-; others up to £6 10/-. Sheep: Store and fat lambs practically maintained the rates current at present. Any alteration would be against vendors. A large yarding of breeding ewes was submitted, but interest, especially in firm mouth ewes, which constituted the bulk of the yarding, was rather slack. Consequently many sellers would not accept the offers made. Heavy fat lambs 27/- to 29/-; medium 24/- to 27/6; others 21/- to 24/-; good store lambs 15/- to 17/-; medium 13/- to 15/-; small up to 12/6; sound mouth breeding ewes 20/- to 22/7; firm mouth breeding ewes 18/6 to 20/-; aged and inferior up to 17/6; medium Southdown rams up to sgns.

Pigs: The market was rather depressed. Store and weaner pigs comprised the greater parh business was transacted at tower values. Medium porkers £2 2/- to £2 7/-; light 5A tQ £2; good 22/(3 to 25/-; medium 18/- to 21/-; slips* 10/- to 18/-; wearers up i K/. •

THE FRANKTON SALE A medium yarding of fat ewes and wethers came forward at the Frankton saleyards on Tuesday. Competition 'was steady at rates equal to'those ruling last week. Fat lambs were penned in medium numbers and sold at schedule rates. There was again a full yarding of runners and vealers, including a good proportion of well-finished calves. Competition was not keen and prices showed an easing tendency. A good entry of well-finished ox beef came forward, but the demand was slack and quotations were easier. There was little inquiry for a good penning of cow and heifer beef, with the result that a decided drop in values was recorded. A few pens of close-up dairy cattle sold nt firm late rates. Buyers were offered a full yarding of fat pigs and a medium entry of stores and weaners. Competition, for both baconcrs and porkers was good, last week’s rates being fully maintained. Stores and weaners were not keenly sought, with a consequent drop in values, especially for weaners. The auctioneers report as follows: Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd. —Sheep: Prime wethers sold at 29/3 to 30/-; medium 27/6 to 28/6; light 26/- to 27/-; prime ewes 15/- to 16/6; heavy lambs 26/6 to 28/-; medium 23/- to 23/9; light 21/- to 22/6.
