BOWLERS’ TRIBUTE

MR DRAKE FAREYVELLED NIGHT BOWLING COMMITTEE A very pleasant hour was spent at the Cambridge Bowling Club’s Pavilion on Tuesday evening, when the president, Mr H. E. Amycs, and members of the night bowling committee entertained Mr W. Drake, a fellow member, on the eve of his departure from Cambridge. Mr W. R. Edwards, chairman of the night committee, spoke of the great assistance Mr Drake had been during the past season, and these remarks were endorsed by Mr Amyes.

The president congratulated the commjlttee on the financial success of this year’s night bowling, and referred to the good that was being done in encouraging young people to play bowls. An opportunity was also taken to farewell Mr Forrie Richards, a keen young night bowler, who has received notice of his appointment to the Thames Office of the Public Trust Department. During an informal discussion Which took place, it was suggested that the night bowling committee could organise a gala evening during Easter, and Messrs J. V. Richards and C. Zainey consented to prepare a report to be submitted to the executive of the club.
