SURPRISE PARTY Games, competitions and musical items added greatly to the enjoyment at a delightful surprise party given for Miss Zena Rodgers on Monday night. The evening was staged at Mrs 0. A. White’s home by members of the Presbyterian Choir, Girls’ Sewing Circle and Ladies’ Guild Committee to bid farewell to Miss Rodgers, who leaves shortly for Hamilton. During the evening solos were rendered by the guest of honour herself, and Mrs R. Simpson, while 1 Miss Rita Price played a piano solo. Well over fifty guests gathered together to farewell this young lass and present her with their best wishes as well as something more substantial by which to remember her Cambridge friends.

FAREWELL EVENING Prior, to their departure for Nelson, Mr and Mrs .1. F. Davis, of Princes Street, were guests at a surprise party at their home on Saturday evening. A happy time was spent by about 30 friends and Mr and Mrs Davis were presented with a beautiful clock to remind them of their former home town. Mr Davis had previously received gifts from the staff of Messrs Moore and Hardy, with whom he worked for many years. Those present were Mr and Mrs J. Davis, Mr and Mrs W. Meanic, Mr and Mrs Latimer, Mr and Mrs L. Young, Mr and Mrs J. Francis. Mr and Mrs McGuiness, Miss Casey, Mrs Foster, Mrs Leggett, Mrs E. Hardy, Mrs Iveyworth, Misses T. and J. Hardy, Messrs J. Young, Keaney and J. Watt. WHEN YOU’RE GREY.... TRINITY GIRLS’ CLUB (By “Fizz.”) Our usual club meeting was postponed and club members went to an illustrated talk given by one of our Young Men’s Bible Class Missionaries, the Rev. Morton Ryburn. Mr Ryburn is principal of a large boys’ school in the Punjab, India, and there a great work is being carried on, as the boys are given a practical education suitable to their needs, in a wholesome Christian atmosphere. The boys themselves show a fine spirit of enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard. Practical training is given in gardening, farming, tailoring, carpentry, and mechanics, while a cooperative store is run by the boys. They are taught to govern themselves, and now the Mohammedan, Sikh, Hindu and Christian boys all live, study and work together in a great spirit of co-operation, a very necessary lesson for Indians to learn. Although Bible teaching is optional, every member of the school takes part in the devotional services.
