FLEMING SHIELD FINAL
LEAMINGTON AND HAUTAPU
When Hautapu and Leamington meet in the major Rugby attraction at Victoria Square on Saturday the Fleming Shield will be at stake, for, after a keenly contested round, these two teams gained four points each. The play-off should be a sterling tussle.
Leamington have not defeated Hautapu once this season in the three games, one of which was drawn, but with the shield at stake the team should extend Hautapu fully on Saturday. The teams are evenly matched, and the result should be very close. On past form, chances slightly favour Hautapu, but it is a matter for speculation, as conditions will affect the issue greatly. The match should be one of the most exciting club games of the season. United have been unsuccessful in arranging a practice game against Northern, and no second senior game will he staged. All other games are arranged for 1.15 p.m. In the curtain-raiser at the Square Northern and United third-graders will be in competition. Other games are arranged for at Leamington and the High School. Jubilee Match Hamilton senior representatives will now be Cambridge’s opponents in the representative Rugby game during Jubilee week. Rotorua were originally invited hut their oifer has been declined in favour of Hamilton.
