However, the opportunity came to a "Waipukurau business man recently when two seamen called at his office. Attempts at conversation in English failed, hut in reply to the seamen's inquiry, "Parlez vous Francais?" the business man said: "No, senor, pero hablo el Castlelano.'- ("No, sir, but I speak Spanish.") This brought an instant re-

sponse from the visitors, and conversation in that language continued throughout the interview.
